Contest Description

The Shiner Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the 15th Annual "Christmas in Shiner" lighting contest. The deadline to enter is Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 3:00pm.

There is no charge to enter the contest. Those wishing to enter are required to have either a Shiner phone number or a Shiner address. Judging will take place on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from dusk until approximately 10:30pm, depending on the number of entries in the contest.

The winner will be announced in the Shiner Gazette the following week. Pictures of the winning displays will be included in the paper.

This year there will be two categories judged, residential and commercial. The judges, who will be from out of town, will be looking at the entry’s overall appearance, uniqueness, creativity and best use of lighting. The judges’ decision is final.

Monetary prizes will be awarded for first through third place in both categories. First place will receive $75, second place $50, and third place $25. Yard plaques will be presented to the first through third place winners for display. The plaques must be returned to the Chamber of Commerce office by January 8, 2011.

The entry form appears below. Entry forms may also be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office located at 817 North Ave E. Office hours are 9-3 pm. Entries may be mailed or delivered to the Chamber office (mail box on the door at the Chamber Office if we are out). All entries must be received by Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 3:00pm.

The Shiner Chamber of Commerce and Historic Old Town Shiner invite you to participate in the 13th Annual Christmas in the Park on Thursday December 2, 2010 at 5:30pm in Welhausen Park.

We want to celebrate the season with our community, the people, businesses and organizations of Shiner. Any Shiner business or organization may sponsor a table.

To sponsor a table:
1. We ask that your organization or business donate 3 dozen Christmas cookies or pastries or a seasonal drink, such as cider or hot chocolate, to be used as tasting samples.

2. Please bring items to sell or give away that are unique to your business or cause. Proceeds will stay with your organization or business.

3. Bring chairs for you to sit on. Also have one or two people from your group to man your table. Tables will be furnished.

4. Please keep the Christmas Craft and Food theme in mind when planning for the sampler.

5. You may begin setting up in the park at 4:00 pm. and must be completed not later than 5:30 pm.
